What the National Immunization Schedule is

MoHFW’s routine-immunization material sets out the National Immunization Schedule for vaccines delivered at specified programme ages. The current schedule covers vaccination from birth through infancy, later childhood and adolescence.

The MoHFW Annual Report 2025–26 lists the following childhood schedule:

  • Birth: BCG, OPV-0 and Hepatitis B birth dose.
  • 6 weeks: OPV-1, Pentavalent-1, RVV-1, fIPV-1 and PCV-1.
  • 10 weeks: OPV-2, Pentavalent-2 and RVV-2.
  • 14 weeks: OPV-3, Pentavalent-3, fIPV-2, RVV-3 and PCV-2.
  • 9–12 months: MR-1, JE-1 in endemic districts, PCV booster and fIPV-3.
  • 16–24 months: MR-2, JE-2 in endemic districts, DPT booster-1 and OPV booster.
  • 5–6 years: DPT booster-2.
  • 10 years and 16 years: Td.
This is the national programme schedule, not a decision about an individual child. An individual’s vaccination history, missed doses or other circumstances require review of that person’s record by a qualified doctor or vaccination provider.

Why the current official source matters

The 2024 MoHFW Routine Immunization Manual includes fIPV-3 in its child-immunization tracking material, and the MoHFW Annual Report 2025–26 includes fIPV-3 at 9–12 months in the National Immunization Schedule. The older Unit 2 PDF previously cited by this resource is therefore no longer used as an approved source here.

Vaccination records

The 2024 MoHFW manual uses child-level immunization tracking fields, including an MCP card number or U-WIN reference ID, alongside recorded vaccine dates. These records are part of programme tracking and help distinguish recorded doses from doses not recorded in the programme record.
